Quercus douglasii

Quercus douglasii

Blue oak

$6.50

A medium-sized deciduous tree growing 50-80’H, usually with a somewhat irregularly-shaped crown, and a trunk 1.5-3’ in diameter. The bark is light gray with many medium-sized dark cracks; from a distance, it can appear almost white. The name Blue Oak derives from the blue-green tint of its 1.5-4”-long leaves, entirely or shallowly lobed. Acorns are about 1” long, often with a narrowed base, with a moderately sweet kernel, maturing in 6-7 months from pollination.
