A small to medium-sized deciduous shrub to 6-10’H. Fragrant golden yellow flowers in spring attract hummingbirds and monarch butterflies. Leaves are green, gooseberry-like leaves, turn red in autumn. ½” amber-yellow to black berries are edible and attract a wide range of birds. Prefers part shade and does best when surrounded by mulch. It grows well under oak trees.
