Moderately fast-growing deciduous shrub; long-lived grows to 4-5’H. Semi-upright, thorny branches with pretty, little scalloped leaves. Burgundy-red and white to pink pendant flowers resemble miniature fuchsias followed by showy, rounded fruits covered with prickles, starting out green and ripening to red, spiny globes which are relished by birds. Prefers light to moderate shade; drought-tolerant once established. Needs good drainage.
