A deciduous shrub or small tree, up to 30’H. Cream or yellow flowers in the spring and purple berries in the fall. Its berries are one of the most important sources of food for birds in California. Tough, but easy to grow, and grows very rapidly; tolerant of a different soil moisture levels once established including fairly dry soils.
